Come and join us for a double celebration. Our good friend Paul Adams is celebrating his 70th Birthday and by good fortune it is also Marathon Day. To celebrate we are having a Social Run.
Starting and finishing at Hamilton Panthers Clubhouse on Knavesmire Road, the run will take you through the heart of York. Taking in Rowntrees Park, the riverside, museum gardens, York Minster and the City Walls. You will run through the Yorkshire Marathon start, York University, Millennium Bridge, York Racecourse and Terrys Chocolate Factory.
There are multiple options for distance, 1 single loop of approx. 13 miles, then additional 5 mile loops for approx. 18 miles/23 miles and finally the York Parkrun route for those wanting to reach marathon distance. You decide on the day how far you want to run. There will be a bespoke medal and goody bag for all finishers as well as homemade cake.
There will be a couple of drinks stations on the course as well as refreshments, cake and food at the clubhouse. What is a social run?
It is a non-competitive run with friends. The run through York should give you the opportunity to have a chat, see the sights and take some pictures. It is an excellent opportunity for a low key training run for those going for a spring marathon or to complete the full marathon for those who would like to.
There will be no cut-off times but the runs will be timed, results will be published and those working towards 100 marathons, the marathon will count. Miles will also count towards the SYRY 100 mile club.
