Fancy something completely different, then how about running the entire circumference of the M25 motorway - VIRTUALLY.
Then look no further than the 'M25 Vultra' brought to you by Phoenix Running.
I've always wanted to run around the M25 but for obvious reasons a variety of authorities are not too happy with that idea. We actually made some progress a while back and almost managed to host a small overnight marathon for 100 competitors on an actual section of the M25 motorway during a planned night closure, but unfortunately it was not to be, So how about we do the whole thing - virtually, its 117 miles all the way round.
The 'M25 Vultra' has something for everyone from seasoned ultra runners to those who are new to running and want to try something epic. Oh and of course there will be the epic medal - obviously
There are 5 entry options
- The M25 Vultra Continuous - all in one go
- The M25 Vultra 48 Hour - 2 days
- The M25 Vultra Week Long - 7 days
- The M25 Vultra Fortnight Long - 14 days
- The M25 Vultra Month Long - 30 days
The exciting bit :
You'll get a bespoke, sequential BIB when you sign up. There will be a route map within your Phoenix World profile, and each competitor will have their own virtual location pin (complete with their name and BIB number for tracking your virtual progress). You can even show your profile picture if you enable this feature. Once you start your virtual run you'll submit your mileage as you go which will automatically move you along the map. So, if you're doing the Week Long' option and go out and run 20 miles on day one, then you'll move 20 miles around the M25 map and have 97 miles left to cover (the M25 is 117 miles around). Pretty cool. Once you've submitted enough mileage to get all the way round then you are an official finisher of the M25 Vultra! Your total miles (117) and total time will be added to the finisher results and we'll send you your medal.
This is a challenge for literally anyone of any running ability. If you're new to running, fancy something a bit different, or fancy your first foray into multi-day endurance challenges, want to practice running consistent distances over consecutive days, or just seeing how many miles you can run in a week, then this is for you. And, if you're a seasoned ultra runner, then we'd love to have you aboard to see if you can cover the distance all in one go.
