PHOENIX - The Space Race 2018
On Friday 20th July 2018 we're celebrating the anniversary date of the 'Eagle' lunar landing module touching down on the surface of the Moon back in 1969. Some hours later Neil Armstrong uttered those immortal words to over a billion people listening back on earth, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
So get ready for the great Space Race!
The 2018 Space Race is a 6 hour timed event, with a marathon specific option, where you choose from 5km to ultra marathon, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course along the beautiful river Thames. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.
The medal for this one is insane at 160mm with a cut out through which you can shine a torch light to create a silhouette of the Lunar Lander - The Eagle has definitely landed!
Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter.
This event is fully sanctioned by the 100 Marathon Club.
