PHOENIX - VIRTUAL - Death Valley VULTRA II

Fancy something completely different, then how about running through the hottest place on earth - VIRTUALLY.

Then look no further than the 'Death Valley VULTRA brought to you by Phoenix Running.

Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil"

The Death Valley VULTRA will start at 'Death Valley Junction' and after a short virtual jaunt north on the 127, we'll turn hard left on to the 190 for the long, hot, slog to Furness Creek. Be careful your trainers don't 'virtually' melt. From there it's onto Beatty Junction and Stovepipe Wells, then another hot slog through Towne Pass and onto Panamint Springs. Further along at Farther Crowley Overlook don't forget to look right in to Star Wars Canyon. Then it's another super-heated section before we split from the 190 onto the California State Route 136 and head through Keeler up towards a final right hand turn into S Main Street on the 395 and the finish at Lone Pine. The route is 135.3 miles.

The 'Death Valley Vultra' has something for everyone from seasoned ultra runners to those who are new to running and want to try something epic and hot. Oh and of course there will be the epic bling - obviously!

There are 6 entry options:

  • The Death Valley Vultra Continuous - all in one go
  • The Death Valley 48 Hour - 2 days
  • The Death Valley Week Long - 7 days
  • The Death Valley Fortnight Long - 14 days
  • The Death Valley Month Long - 30 days
  • The Death Valley Two Months Long - 61 days

The exciting bit :

You'll get a bespoke, sequential BIB when you sign up. There will be a route map and central results and progress landing page on the Phoenix Running website, and each competitor will have their own virtual location pin (complete with their name and BIB number for tracking your virtual progress). Once you start your virtual run you'll submit your mileage as you go which, once approved, will automatically move you along the map. So, if you're doing the 'Week Long' option and go out and run 20 miles on day one, then you'll move 20 miles through Death Valley and have 115.3 miles left to cover. The route is 135.3 miles through the very heart of Death Valley. Once you've submitted enough mileage to get to the finish at Lone Pine, then you are an official finisher of the Death Valley VULTRA! Your total miles and total time will be added to the finisher results, you'll show as 'COMPLETE' and we'll send you your epic bling!

This is a challenge for literally anyone of any running ability. If you're new to running, fancy something a bit different, or fancy your first foray into multi-day endurance challenges, want to practice running consistent distances over consecutive days, or just want to see how many miles you can run in a week, then this is for you. And, if you're a seasoned ultra runner, then we'd love to have you aboard to see if you can cover the distance all in one go
