Join us on a exclusive guided tour of Hill Top Farm, Near Sawrey renowned as the first farm owned by Beatrix Potter.
The farm at Hill Top remains fully operational all year round just how Beatrix Potter loved and envisioned. The farm tour offers a rare opportunity to go beyond the gate and capture a glimpse of the working Lakeland farm as it is today and meet the Hill Top Herdwick flock.
Enjoy the picturesque landscape setting of Near Sawrey on this gentle/easy walk around the farm and admire the Hill Top House from an alternative viewpoint.

30/11/2026Please wear suitable outdoor footwear. We will wander across uneven undulating sometimes slippery wet ground throughout the walk.
It has a habit of raining; please come suitably dressed with waterproofs just in case - the walk is outdoors in the fresh air.
This is a working farm. To keep everyone safe including our farm we strongly advise and ask you to use the hand washing facility and foot disinfectant dip on site. Funded by FIPL.
Sorry NO dogs on the farm walk. We actively encourage you to explore the local countryside with your four-legged friend. There are numerous designated footpaths, bridleways and forestry trails in the area.
The walk is unsuitable for young children under 14 years of age. We strongly advise pregnant ladies do not attend during the lambing season.
Sorry due to the location and layout of the farm, at this initial stage the walk does not lend itself easily to those with accessibility requirements.
Please be aware you attend the walk and enter the premises at your own risk and we will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury occurred.
Private parking is available but limited within Courier Yard c/o Hill Top Farm. Please park responsibly and compassionately. We encourage you to plan your visit ahead - use public transport when convenient, or why not embrace the natural beauty of the area and travel by foot or cycle.
Talks will start punctually. Please arrive in suitable time approx.10 mins before the planned start time.
There will be specific photo opportunities throughout the walk, however we do recommend for full benefit you switch off from your phone and embrace the beauty and sounds of the surrounding landscape.
Due to the day-to-day life on the farm availability of dates is limited.
In event we have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstance i.e. extreme weather we will notify you and issue a refund.
