Toga Track Challenge
Sunday, 16 June 2019
We are pleased to introduce a new event to our 2019 race calendar and something a little different for York - the Toga Track Challenge. The event takes place shortly after York's Roman Festival and what better way to celebrate York's history, than to have a celebratory run!
The wearing of togas is optional!
It is a 7 hour lapped challenge taking place on the athletics track at the University of York (400 metres per lap).
Runners can run as few or as many laps as they wish within the 7 hours. All runners, no matter how far or fast they have run, will receive the same bespoke medal and a goody bag.
If you return to the start/finish and it says 6 hour 59 on the clock, you will be allowed to complete a final lap. If the clock says 7 hours, you will be asked to finish and collect your medal.
So, you can run 1 lap and finish and receive your medal or keep going for the full 7 hours and see how many laps you can squeeze in. It is your challenge, your race, you decide the distance!
(If you're really up for a challenge - it is 106 laps to complete marathon distance!)
