Stephen Price Memorial 10k Aston on Trent
Sunday, 15 September 2019
Join us for either a 10k run or Fun Run on the 15th September in Aston on Trent. It will start and finish in the grounds of the Aston on Trent Recreation Centre. The route will follow a circular route between Aston-on-Trent and Weston-on-Trent passing through Aston Hall, Bluebell Woods and incorporating footpath, tracks and canal paths.
People run for all different kinds of reasons: to relieve stress, to boost body confidence, to meet up with friends. Many of us here today are running for one reason and one reason only - Stephen. Stephen’s legacy has inspired many of us to get out running. For him, 'Running was not a sport' it was a way of life’ and he really did live and love it! He has inspired so many people to get their trainers on and push themselves to their limits. For these reasons we have teamed up, along with the Recreation in Aston, to plan the 'Stephen Price Memorial 10k'.
The 10k race starts at 9am and is limited to 300 runners, so please book early to guarantee your place. It is an open race for all levels with entries accepted from anyone aged 15 and over. The race will be run to UK Athletics rules. The race will be using a chip timing system to ensure the runners’ results are as accurate as possible.
The Fun Run will be 2 miles and start shortly after the 10k race at 9:10am. This will start and finish at the same location as the main race and will follow a loop, much of which is common to the race route. This run is open to anyone but young children (under 13 years old) must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The fun run is limited to 100 entrants.
Due to the nature of the route, which uses unsurfaced footpaths and bridleways, the event is unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Your race numbers and timing chips will be available for collection on the day of the race at Aston on Trent Recreation Centre. Please ensure you have collected your number by 0830.
Running numbers must be worn for the race and pinned to the front of your running vest. It is also a race requirement that you write on the back of your running number your name, address, emergency contact details and any medical conditions. If you have recorded any medical conditions, please mark the front of your running number with a red ‘X’.
Any athlete found to be running with any number other than that issued to them on the day will be disqualified and reported to UK Athletics. Further communication of the race will be provided through the Twitter account @Pricey10k and Facebook.
There will be limited toilets located at the Recreation Centre in Aston. Please allow plenty of time to use these facilities as they will become very busy prior to the race.
Use of headphones / personal audio players
You must not wear personal audio players (mp3 players/iPods) or any ear phones during the race. This is for your own safety and the safety of others around you. The route does involve crossing roads and narrows in places so you must be alert at all times and be able to hear marshals in case of an emergency situation.
The results will be compiled by Active Training World and these are expected to be online at http://results.eventchiptiming.com/ shortly after the race.
