SATURN Pokerun Fundraising Run

Sunday, 22 March 2020

Official online event entry for SATURN Pokerun Fundraising Run, Sunday, 22 March 2020

Join us for this special fundraising run which we have nice squeezed into the running calendar. The theme for this one is based on Pokemon and the course just happens to have a large number of Pokestops! The medal is awesome and will feature some of the more famous Pokemon.

This is a 7 hour timed event where you can choose how long you want to run for and your distance from 5km to ultra. You can complete as many laps of a 4.37 mile (7.03km) out and back, course along the beautiful Thames River as you wish within the 7 hour limit. We will also have a 5km shorter route. The longer route means more Pokestops!! We welcome runners of all abilities and as long as you complete at least the 5km will earn an iconic themed medal. Alternatively, you may carry on running and complete as many laps as you can manage within the time limit! We also have a 50k option for those wishing to run this distance.

FUNDRAISING CAUSES
We are raising money for a number of different causes:

Channel Swim Charities - A large number of you know Kat and she is currently raising money to do a charity swim across the English Channel as a lone ranger (solo swim - no relay). Kat's swim will be raising money for Alzheimers and RNLI, both of these charities being very close to her. Despite Kat having completed over 300 marathons already and being a qualified swimming coach, to swim the channel is a huge challenge to any athlete and we wish her all the very best in her preparation.

Steps - This is a charity of significance to Saturn Running. Our daughter was born with a genetic condition causing problems with pretty much all of the joints in her body. One of the charities we raise money for is Steps, which is set up to provide support and assistance for families where children have been born with lower limb conditions. In fact, it was this charity and raising awareness for such conditions that got us both into running!

We will be donating 100% of the profits from the run to these causes so the more runners we have the bigger the donation we can make!

MINI-ME PIN OPTIONS
As we have sneaked this run into the calendar at the last minute, we have not designed a pin for this event and therefore for this run we do not have a pin only run option.

There will, however, be our normal distance pin for all runners who complete either a half marathon, mega half marathon, marathon, 50km or Ultra in the 7hr time limit which can be attached to your medal ribbon.

The course is along the Thames River path and classified as a trail run. The course is flat and fast.

The aid station is at the start line and therefore available every 4.37 miles (although as it's situated towards the middle of the course, you will pass this at 3.00 miles too). The toilets are situated in the Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club which is available for our runners use from 8am and for the entire event. There is also a cafe situated in the Pleasure Grounds should you wish to use it. Parking onsite is pay and display at £1.50 an hour or £6 for the whole day.

Places are strictly limited and event registration will close once these are sold out.

Minimum distance is 5km or as far as you can go in 7 hours.
