Following on from last year's hugely successful event, we are proud to be holding Brandon's second Rainbow Colour Run.
The Colour Run is part of Brandon's second family friendly Pride Day.
It's a short, family friendly colour run with loops of around a quarter of a mile. Runners or walkers are able to complete up to four loops. As you'll see from last year's photos, it's huge fun to take part in and fabulous to watch too!
There's a great change this year - now young people up to the age of 16, not 14 as last year, can enter for just £5.00!
Young people can run on their own, but must have a responsible adult watching or on the course.
You'll be able to buy plain white and white Pride t-shirts on the day to show off the rainbow colours to their best effect. Glasses or sunglasses must be worn to take part and you'll also be able to buy rainbow sunglasses to protect your eyes.
The Rainbow Colour Run will start with a fun group warm-up by staff from Brandon Leisure Centre, with waves of runners then starting their run around the field. Biodegradable food quality corn starch in rainbow colours will be thrown in the air, with runners passing through the vibrant colour clouds as they run together!
Runners and walkers can choose to pass near the paint tables for maximum coverage or further away for a lighter dusting. Supporters can watch their family and friends get covered in powder paint as they run round the grass course and can buy cups of powder to throw in the air to add to the colourful paint cloud!
And to add even more fun, the local fire brigade will be there with a fire engine. They'll be creating a water cloud to pass through - to make the colours pop even more and stick.
At the end participants will receive a medal, with plenty of photo opportunities for individuals and groups.
You can then join in the fun of the Pride Day - which will be even more colourful in its second year, with lots more attractions and things to do and see.
There'll be lots of charity, craft and trade stalls, family friendly family activities and rainbow hair braiding and face painting. We've some really great live music acts with a dance area and a variety of food with a picnic area.
And we have some VERY special extra additions to the day that we're keeping under our hat for a while!
Ipswich based Outreach Youth, a fabulous local LGBTQ+ charity will be there along with other organisations and groups.
Please see our website www.brandonpride.co.uk for much more information and details about the day, including nearer the event, the fabulous live music line-up.
