PHOENIX - The Space Race SILVER 2019
Saturday, 20 July 2019
On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July 2019 we're celebrating the 50th anniversary date of the 'Eagle' lunar landing module touching down on the surface of the Moon back in 1969. Some hours later Neil Armstrong uttered those immortal words to over a billion people listening back on earth, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
So get ready for the great Space Race Weekend 2019 - 50th Anniversary Special!
Saturday 20th will be the Space Race SILVER - a chance to earn another top medal piece.
Sunday 21st will be the Space Race GOLD - a chance to earn the gold back piece.
BOTH medals are awesome standalone medals in their own right so don't worry if you can't make both events, but together (or with the gold back-piece combined with the bronze 2018 medal) these become an awesome 'stacker' medal.
The 2019 Space Race SILVER is a 6 hour timed event, with a marathon specific option, where you choose from 5km to ultra marathon, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course along the beautiful river Thames. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.
The medal is an insane at 160mm with a cut out through which you can shine a torch light to create a silhouette of the Lunar Lander - The Eagle has definitely landed!
Places will be strictly limited so don't leave it too late to enter.
