This event will OPEN for ENTRY at 7.00pm sharp on NEW YEARS DAY!
The WORLDS BIGGEST Finishers Medal is BACK and this time it's being presented in an antique silver pewter finish.
If there's one event medal I get asked about more than any other - it's this one. Love it or hate, the Explorer is a magnificent beast!
For those of you that remember the Explorer medal first time round (and let's face it, it's hard to forget) we planned it as a one off and never expected to be able to bring it back. The first time in 2018 was supposed to be a one off because the medals cost an eye watering £127 each and we did entry at £50 because we're epic!
This medal broke us in just about every way; cost, transport, logistics, timing; every, god, damn, thing was a nightmare and so from the minute the event finished we wanted to do it again - obvs! But we couldn't because we broke the factory too and they said NO WAY, never again, go away, get lost! Well, since then we've been chip, chip, chipping away at them and guess what - they've agreed to do it.
We don't have to pay the die cast again, so the price is £99 which we know is expensive but just look at the thing! So we're doing it.
This is a multi-distance event - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, looped course around the beautiful Denbies Wine Estate within the overall 7 hour time limit. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one loop and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 7 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.
Not sure? Well the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if it feels right.
Places will be strictly limited and we're going to 'rocket-launch' this one at 7.00pm on NEW YEARS DAY. We expect spaces to sell quickly so please don't miss out.
Terrain is off road trail, through the wine estate with the odd hill thrown in.
