Our Hamsterley Forest Winter trail Canicross 10k follows the wonderful crisp trails and tracks of the beautiful forest park, undulating but rewarding with spectacular views of the valley and forest. This is the perfect opportunity to spend some time working off festive indulgences in a spectacular winter wonderland location.
In it's third year, this is our most popular event and, early booking is recommended.

Hamsterley Forest is the largest forest in County Durham and covers 4900 square acres.
The Forest is great for trail running and enjoying the local wildlife, if you are lucky you may spot one of the Deer, Badgers or Squirrels. Starting and finishing at the visitor centre which is at the main car park. The route follows well marked footpaths, forest trails and woodland tracks.
Ideal for novices and more experienced Canicross runners.
The route will be fully waymarked.
There will be a race HQ with toilets.
There are plenty of car parking spaces but participants are encouraged to car share when possible. Discounted parking charges apply.
There will be on site canine and human first aiders and emergency vet provisions.
Weather - at this time of year it is normal for the temperature to fall below freezing therefore there will be a mandatory kit list for your safety. This will be communicated in the pre event communications.

Entries are non refundable (may be transferred to later event - deferral request must be made before the entry cut-off date)
Entrants must be over 16 (human) and over 1 year - 18 months (dogs) on date of event
Dogs must be under the control of an adult at all times (16+)
By registering you confirm that you and your dog are physically fit to participate
You also confirm that you have read and agree to our Code of Practice and Pre Event Declaration by continuing to register
The course includes potential tripping hazards and technical running surfaces, therefore appropriate clothing/footwear must be worn
All dogs must be wearing a suitable running harness attached to a bungee line and waist belt.
Times are individually recorded by 2 x independent timekeepers.
Team name must be entered when signing up to be eligible for team awards - Team awards will be decided aggregate time of all members (total time divided by 5)
