Cate's Run

Sunday, 9th August 2026 @ 09:00

Join us for Cate's Run - A beautiful 10K run/walk in the Hertfordshire countryside.

Come and take part in this scenic, mostly flat, 10K run/walk through the stunning Hertfordshire countryside! Open to all abilities aged 16+, this inclusive event warmly welcomes both runners and walkers.

Following last year's success, Cate's Run is back bigger and better this year - and it's fully timed!

Why We Run
Cate's Run is held each year in memory of our beautiful Cate Stevens-Dewey, to celebrate her birthday. Tragically, Cate took her own life in December 2024, aged just 31, following a long battle with anxiety and depression. A passionate advocate for mental health, Cate fought to break the stigma so many people still face.

The event raises funds and awareness for PAPYRUS, a UK charity dedicated to preventing young suicide - the leading cause of death for those under 35.

About the Event
Charity: All profits from the Run go directly to PAPYRUS UK. You'll also have the option to make an additional voluntary donation. Last year, through the support of our runners, we raised over £5000 - enough to keep the PAPYRUS HOPELINE247 open for a week, giving young people in crisis a safe space to talk.

Every participant will receive a PAPYRUS wristband and information about how your contribution supports this vital cause.

Distance & Time: This is a 10K event, open to both runners and walkers. A mass start, with runners divided into groups based on their predicted finish time to minimise congestion on the route. We ask all participants to complete the course within 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Course: The scenic, mostly flat route (there are a couple of inclines) includes a beautiful stretch along the River Lea. There is one stile to cross. The course comprises two loops, each of 5km. We start and finish at The Chauncy School.

The course is fully signed and marshalled, so no navigation skills are necessary.

We are grateful to Canal and Rivers Trust for granting access to the tow path.

Medals: Every finisher will receive a stunning full-colour Cate's Run medal as a keepsake.

Race Day Essentials
Aid Stations: Water will be available at the halfway point and at the start/finish. Qualified first aiders will be located at Race HQ.

Toilets & Changing Facilities: Toilets, changing rooms, and hot showers are available at the event HQ.

Bag Storage: Informal storage will be available, but please avoid leaving valuables, as this area will not be continuously monitored.

Race Number Pickup: Bib numbers can be collected on the day at registration. Full event details will be emailed 3-4 days before race day.

Post-Race Refreshments: A delicious selection of sweet treats, cold drinks, tea, and coffee will be available at the finish line - donations to Papyrus are appreciated.

We are grateful to The Chauncy School, Cate's former school, for the use of their facilities.

Getting There
Parking: Limited on-site parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional on-street parking can be found nearby, but to minimise disruption to local residents, please walk, use public transport, or car share where possible.
